SUSS MicroTec (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. Joins TRE100: German Semiconductor Equipment Leader Commits to 100% Renewable Electricity by 2030

SUSS MicroTec (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. officially announces its membership in TRE100, Taiwan's dedicated renewable energy initiative, with a commitment to achieving 100% renewable electricity consumption by 2030. This milestone reflects the company's determination to embed sustainability at the core of its Taiwan operations and demonstrates the broader SUSS MicroTec group's strong alignment with global net-zero ambitions.

SUSS MicroTec is a world-leading provider of precision-engineered equipment and process solutions for micro structuring in the semiconductor industry. Headquartered in Garching, Germany, the SUSS MicroTec SE group brings over 70 years of engineering excellence to its core portfolio, which spans backend lithography systems, wafer bonding tools, and photomask processing equipment, serving advanced packaging, MEMS, LED, and photonics applications worldwide. SUSS MicroTec (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. was established in 2002, and in 2020 inaugurated its first Asia-based production facility at the Hsinchu Science Park. In late 2025, the company further expanded with a new site in Zhubei, spanning 18,000 square meters and housing more than 400 employees, representing the largest international investment in the group's history. SUSS's tools are widely adopted by leading global chipmakers to manufacture semiconductors powering smartphones, automotive sensors, AI accelerators, and the devices of everyday life.

SUSS MicroTec Taiwan's decision to join TRE100 is both a strategic ESG commitment and a direct response to Taiwan's national 2050 net-zero pathway. As a significant energy user in the semiconductor equipment sector, SUSS MicroTec Taiwan recognizes its responsibility to accelerate the energy transition. By committing to 100% renewable electricity by 2030, the company aims to lead by example within Taiwan's semiconductor supply chain, contributing to a greener and more resilient industrial ecosystem for its customers, employees, and the wider community.

About TRE100

RE100 is the world's leading corporate renewables initiative, bringing together hundreds of large international companies, all committed to using 100% renewable electricity by 2050. Inspired by these ambitious companies, non-large electricity users in Taiwan are eager to contribute to the growth of renewable energy. In response to this demand, CIER, RE100's local campaign partner in Taiwan, has developed TRE100. Led and run by CIER, TRE100's technical criteria seeks to replicate RE100's standards for non-large electricity users in Taiwan.

"Joining TRE100 marks a pivotal step in SUSS MicroTec Taiwan's sustainability journey. Our commitment to achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2030 is both a response to Taiwan's net-zero ambitions and a promise of accountability to all our stakeholders from customers and employees to the communities in which we operate," said Vince Sun, HSE Manager, SUSS MicroTec.

SUSS MicroTec (Taiwan) Co., Ltd.'s membership in TRE100 underscores the commitment of international semiconductor equipment companies to driving sustainable transformation in Taiwan. With a target of 100% renewable electricity by 2030, SUSS MicroTec Taiwan sets a strong green benchmark for the semiconductor equipment supply chain, and contributes meaningfully to Taiwan's broader transition toward a net-zero future.
