Gudeng Precision Joins the TRE100, Further Upgrading Carbon Reduction for Semiconductor Supply Chain
10 May 2026|4 min read

Against the backdrop of the global semiconductor industry’s accelerating transition toward net zero emissions and low carbon supply chains, Gudeng Precision has officially announced its participation in the TRE100 initiative, committing to achieve its RE100 target by 2040 and becoming one of TRE100’s founding members. The company pledged to steadily increase its use of renewable energy while continuing to reduce the carbon intensity of its operations through energy saving measures, carbon reduction initiatives, and energy efficiency optimization, thereby strengthening its long term sustainability competitiveness within the global semiconductor supply chain.
TRE100 is a renewable energy commitment platform established in Taiwan to align with the international RE100 initiative and was formally launched by the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER), RE100’s regional partner in Taiwan. As a sub initiative of RE100, TRE100 adopts RE100’s technical principles as its foundation while establishing a recognition and disclosure framework tailored specifically for Taiwan’s non large electricity users, enabling more enterprises to align with international standards and participate in the global net zero transition through a consistent and credible mechanism.
Under its institutional design, TRE100 encourages participating companies to progressively increase their renewable energy usage and publicly disclose their energy transition progress on an annual basis. Compared with RE100’s electricity consumption threshold for membership, TRE100 provides a more flexible participation mechanism, allowing semiconductor supply chain companies and key component manufacturers to begin preparing for the energy transition at an earlier stage and respond proactively to international customer demands for decarbonization and renewable energy adoption.
As global demand for wafer fabrication and advanced packaging continues to surge, electricity consumption across the semiconductor sector has risen sharply. International brands and leading semiconductor foundries have increasingly introduced supply chain decarbonization requirements, driving upstream, midstream, and downstream suppliers to adopt renewable energy and carbon management systems. Industry observers widely regard participation in TRE100 as becoming one of the key indicators for semiconductor supply chain companies seeking alignment with international sustainability standards.
Gudeng Precision stated that in response to climate change and industrial transformation challenges, the company has incorporated energy conservation, carbon reduction, and renewable energy deployment into its long term operational strategy. Through initiatives including the implementation of energy management systems, process efficiency enhancement, and equipment energy saving upgrades, Gudeng continues to lower the energy intensity per unit of output value. At the same time, the company plans to steadily expand its renewable electricity usage through multiple approaches, including self developed renewable energy facilities, renewable energy procurement, and power purchase agreements (PPAs), in order to meet the growing expectations of international clients and capital markets for low carbon operations.
Amid the semiconductor industry’s increasing emphasis on ESG performance across supply chains, corporate energy usage and carbon emissions management have become critical criteria in evaluating business partners. Gudeng noted that joining TRE100 is not only a response to the global net zero trend, but also an important strategic move to strengthen the company’s long term competitiveness within advanced process and critical materials supply chains. Going forward, the company plans to continue following internationally recognized climate related disclosure frameworks while advancing its energy transition and carbon management systems to improve transparency and governance effectiveness.
In addition, Gudeng is actively supporting the government’s energy transition policies and collaborating with industry partners to promote the development of Taiwan’s renewable energy market. The company expressed its hope that growing corporate demand for green electricity will help stimulate renewable energy supply growth and accelerate Taiwan’s energy structure transformation. Gudeng emphasized that improving energy efficiency, increasing renewable energy adoption, and advancing supply chain decarbonization collaboration will remain the three core pillars of its future sustainability strategy.
Gudeng stated that joining TRE100 marks an important milestone for the company. Moving forward, it will continue deepening its energy saving and carbon reduction initiatives while steadily progressing toward its long term goal of operating on 100% renewable energy. The company also plans to work closely with supply chain partners to build a low carbon manufacturing ecosystem and contribute to the sustainable development and climate action efforts of the global semiconductor industry.
Through its active promotion of energy transition and net zero strategies, Gudeng has demonstrated its commitment to deepening its presence in the semiconductor sector while strengthening ESG governance. The company said it will continue responding to global decarbonization trends through concrete actions and advance steadily toward a sustainable operating model defined by high efficiency, low carbon emissions, and strong competitiveness.
About TRE100
TRE100 Taiwan was developed in response to the spirit of the global RE100 initiative while taking into account Taiwan’s industrial structure and the characteristics of local enterprises. Rather than replicating or replacing RE100, TRE100 aims to establish a more practical and executable phased commitment and recognition system tailored to Taiwan’s market conditions, enabling Taiwanese companies to participate meaningfully in the RE100 transition process.
